Spaza cash-up calculator

Know what your till should hold from the numbers in your notebook.

SebutsiPay’s full shop product is not ready yet. This free calculator is a separate notebook tool, not a saved cash-up.

Amounts stay on this page. Refreshing or leaving clears them. Nothing is sent to us or saved as shop records.

Check your notebook totals

Enter rands, for example 200 or 200.50. All fields are required.

Include the change already in your till.

Use your notebook total, not an estimate.

Exclude sales. Enter 0 if none.

Include cash purchases, withdrawals and cash refunds.

Count every note and coin at closing.

Keep the notebook alongside you

Before the first sale, count your opening cash. Include the change already in the drawer. During the day, record each cash sale and keep a separate list of cash added or taken out.

Cash taken out includes stock bought with till cash, withdrawals and cash refunds. If a refunded sale remains in your sales total, include the refund in cash taken out. Do not subtract it twice.

At closing, add your cash sales from the notebook. Count every note and coin in the drawer. Enter those totals above, using 0 where no other cash moved. Do not enter customer details or payment account information.

Expected till = Opening cash + Cash sales + Other cash added − Cash taken out.

Keep QR payments separate. They go to the shop’s own account, not the cash drawer. Confirm each payment in your own payment app. An unpaid QR request is not money received.

A negative difference means Short. A positive difference means Over. A zero difference means Till matches. A shortfall is something to investigate, not proof of theft. Recount first, then check your sales, refunds and cash movements.

This check is about cash, not profit. Profit also needs stock costs and expenses. The calculator does not track sales, stock or history. Its results do not count as shops using SebutsiPay.

Example only — made-up amounts

Opening cash R200.00 + cash sales R850.00 + other cash R0.00 − cash taken out R100.00 = expected till R950.00.

Counted cash of R910.00 gives Short R40.00. Confirmed QR payments of R150.00 do not change that result.

Try one evening

Use this with the shop owner’s permission. Write the result in the notebook. Ask whether the check helped, what was unclear, and how long it took. Share shop figures only with separate permission.
